Guy Harvey's Underwater Realm Dr. Guy Harvey is a renowned marine artist, marine biologist and committed conservationist. His colorful paintings and drawings of marine life have been exhibited in museums and galleries, can be seen in books illustrating famous fishing stories, hanging on the walls of people's homes and businesses, and on their bodies as images and decorations on a variety of apparel items. Guy Harvey is also producing a series of videos, Guy Harvey's Underwater Realm, that document his underwater excursions to film and record the behavior of large game fish in their natural habitats. I am writing the scripts for these videos, which are sold online, at boat and fishing shows, and will soon be broadcast on cable television.. "In the underwater realm of the earth's oceans, you must be either very big, or very fast to survive. But for many species, at certain times and under certain circumstances, even that's not enough. The ocean's smaller fish species, commonly referred to as bait fish, have developed various strategies for surviving in this environment. Many form into huge schools that make it difficult for predators to target individual members for a meal. But in the struggle for survival, predators have developed their own techniques for thwarting such strategies. It's a classic, ongoing battle between predator and prey in which speed and stealth are pitted against size and power. It's the quest for food and survival It's the need to feed, while avoiding being food for another species." |
